On Saturday 25 April and Saturday 9 May 2015 botanist Richard Milne and permaculturalist Nenya Milne will be leading a foraging walk in Craigmillar Park followed by a lunch created from the foraged ingredients. This is event is co-organised with South East Edinburgh Transition (seetransition.weebly.com) and Botanical Society of Scotland (botanical-society-scotland.org.uk).
We will meet by the entrance to Bridgend allotments at 10 am (sharp!) and will walk until 11:30, harvesting many unexpectedly edible common weeds and introduced species. Then we will reassemble at midday at the Inch Park Community Sports Club (on 25 April) or Liberton Kirk Centre (9 May) where we will cook a soup, a stir-fry, and make an interesting salad!
We anticipate a lot of interest in this event, so please book your place by emailing nenyamilne[at]gmail.com (replace [at] with @) stating which day you would like to attend. The event is free (although we will be grateful for donations to cover room hire and additional lunch ingredients).
Please note that we cannot accept responsibility for any adverse reaction to anything you eat (individual sensitivities vary) - although we will never knowingly feed you anything unwholesome!
Multi-gym for the park!
Courtesy of the Council's Parks and Housing Departments, we are getting an outdoor gym for the park - please see the photos of equipment and proposed location (the cross on the grass marks the spot) below:
